Margaret Howell is a contemporary British clothing designer who has worked successfully in men’s and women’s clothing for over five decades. Today, Margaret Howell clothes are sold worldwide with 12 of our own shops in Europe, over 100 outlets in Japan and an established online business.

We are now looking for a Sustainability Assistant to support the Sustainability Manager with the implementation of our sustainability strategy, covering environmental, social and governance aspects. The assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, from collating product certifications, organizing data for our annual carbon footprint, supplier correspondence, and administrative tasks for our various sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sustainability Manager with the collection of data for scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emission calculations.
  • Collate accurate and full data for raw material reporting, including traceability data.
  • Support with product sustainability compliance, including the management of product certifications and initiatives such as GOTS, GRS, RWS and Better Cotton, and with EPR packaging labelling, and other legislative compliance as required.
  • Liaise with Margaret Howell’s supply chain to ensure compliance with the standards above and to request data for our ethical trade and environment pillars. Process supply chain and social compliance data such as audits, supply chain mapping and subcontractors, using Sedex to monitor supplier performance.
  • Produce B2C and B2B packaging baselines, reviewing data and presenting improvement and innovation strategies.
  • Support in the production of internal and external information, including published annual reports, seasonal retail guides, monthly internal sustainability mailer, and option papers & reports for the Company.
  • Assist with circular economy initiatives, capturing relevant data and monitoring project timelines.
  • Undertake market and industry research as required, to help underpin ongoing strategic direction in an evolving field.
  • Assist on any other sustainability initiatives as driven by Company strategy, under direction from the Sustainability Manager.

Role Requirements:

  • Sustainability/environmental management degree or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and passion for sustainability; social and environmental, with an interest specifically in fashion and textiles.
  • Can handle large volumes of data and admin tasks with accuracy.
  • Knowledge and experience using Excel.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.

Hours:
Full-time – 35 hours, Monday–Friday
