This role is responsible for the following activities in Canon UK

  • Line management of Sustainability Specialist(s) as appropriate
  • Development of  local sustainability plans & delivering activities aligned with Canon EMEA’s overall Sustainability strategy & targets
  • Provide bid support to sales teams & manage ongoing requests for Sustainability information; tracking trends and collecting data on customer requirements on Sustainability.
  • Leading delivery of social & educational programme activity (such as the Young Person Programme)
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of local compliance & reporting requirements in relation to product safety, environment, waste and chemicals
  • Maintain ISO 14001 certification and demonstrate continuous improvement on environmental management for sites within the Canon UK National sales office remit
  • Collaborate with local Communication teams to deliver effective sustainability activities including content for internal and external release to improve employee engagement & raise Canon’s external profile on Sustainability
  • Manage any annual/periodic sustainability reporting requirements if they arise within country of responsibility

What we ask

  1. Lead sustainability for National Sales Organisations across EMEA to support and drive the local delivery of Canon’s overall sustainability strategy, programmes and objectives.
  2. Manage customer engagement on sustainability, lead social & educational programme activity and, where appropriate, oversee the implementation of circular economy initiatives.
  3. Develop and deliver effective local compliance programmes and activity relating to product safety, environment & waste, and chemicals, and certification in relation to environmental management systems (ISO14001).

 

You will need

As the Sustainability Manager, you will possess the following skills and expertise;

  • Qualification in sustainability, environmental management or similar with membership of a relevant professional institution
  • Experience in managing teams to deliver effective sustainability support and services.
  • Experience in building strong, collaborative business relationships to influence sustainable change and drive delivery sustainability programmes.
  • Experience in managing governance and compliance reporting systems, ideally in a strategic sustainability and/or regulatory context.
  • Strong knowledge of current sustainability best practice, initiatives and key market drivers including carbon net zero, circular economy and social value.
  • Experience of managing sustainability compliance and certification issues with a good understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) including local implementation and management within a large multi-site organisation.
  • Budget management including planning, forecasting and delivery.
  • Desirable: Experience working in consumer and/or business services, manufacturing and technology.
