Within this role, you will be reporting to the Group Head of Sustainability, as part of the wider sustainability team based in the Stockport office. You will support the delivery of actions and work directly on projects to minimise negative and maximise positive environmental and social impact. We will also support your career progression through internal and external training and exposure to industry specific events, sustainability forums and working groups.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate the delivery and reporting of Sustainability training.
- Develop and coordinate Efficiency Teams in each operating company (OpCo) supporting them with positive impact actions aligned with ISO 14001.
- Coordinate ISO 14001 administrative actions and support the roll out of ISO 14001.
- Support all business units with sustainability information and guidance.
- Support sustainability compliance actions at depots, working with front line teams and third-party partners.
- Support the procurement team with sustainability-related supplier engagement and report on progress.
- Coordinate the environmental footprint process and emissions calculations with internal and external partners.
- Coordinate the annual emissions verification process with independent third-party partner.
- Support internal audit with sustainability-related audit and engagement program.
- Support mandatory and voluntary sustainability reporting (e.g. CDP, EcoVadis, GRESB and UNGC).
- Support the communication of decision useful ESG data for internal stakeholders and committees.
- Support with ESG technical reports on performance and trajectory.
- Be an active member of the Group Charity Committee, supporting the design and delivery of actions.
What we need from you:
You’ll have a keen interest, passion for or experience in the environment and sustainability, with a natural ability to build and manage relationships with various stakeholders.
You’ll be a problem solver, who’s a dab hand with data, and the ability to influence using evidence and data sets.
You’ll have an awareness of environmental and carbon accounting and must have a full clean UK drivers’ licence (willingness to travel is essential).
