About Sustainability Team, DIO Strategy & Plans (S&P) Capability .
Within Capability, the Sustainability Team is a leader in driving climate change and sustainability activity in DIO. Sustainability and Net Zero carry a high profile in the organisation, and the team have a key role in deploying the MOD Climate Change and Sustainability Strategic Approach (Epochs 1 – 3) to 2050, forthcoming MOD Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy, and getting the department on the pathway to achieve the Greening Government Commitment targets.
The Sustainability Team is a key leader in driving climate change & sustainability activity in DIO. The team provides oversight, coherence, and co-ordination of the delivery of sustainability activity with key customers from across both DIO and the wider defence infrastructure enterprise.
The post provides excellent exposure into the core of Sustainability activities across the business and also exposure across a number of TLB’s with an opportunity to build a fantastic network. This is the chance to work in an exciting, high profile, cross functional and fast paced environment, that is tackling one of the biggest environmental challenges of our lifetime.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Sustainability Team, ensuring the smooth running of the portfolio of work, assisting with the delivering project outputs, project artefacts and liaising with Stakeholders central to the project. The successful candidate will have experience working with a variety of stakeholders and have an excellent approach to communication and presenting information in a comprehensible way. This role will initially support the Electrical Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCi) Project, you will be delivering a face paced and complex project managing current delivery needs, whist concurrently developing the future requirements and strategic approach to EVCi ready for implementation in FY25/26.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
Portfolio Management (70%)
- Support the B2 and C1 by supporting priorities across the portfolio of work, initially supporting the EVCI project.
- Demonstrate flexibility across projects to support when needed.
- Assist on reporting and communications in areas of Electrical Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCi)
- Assist the C1 with the production project artefacts relating to the project’s milestones, delivery tracking, schedules, Project/Programme on a Page, RAID Logs etc
- Support the B2 in the logging of risks and/or issues associated with the programme.
- Support the B2 in the logging of and tracking of benefits associated with the programme.
- Support the B2 in the capture of learning from experience
- Provide support on continuous improvement and learning from experience activities.
- Provide support to ad hoc tasks.
Communication Stakeholder engagement (30%)
- Management of stakeholder engagement plans.
- Prepare supporting slide packs, papers, or other, to inform stakeholders of progress, challenges/blockers, time schedules, milestones on behalf of the B2 Lead.
- Effectively communicate the progress of a project to Management, the wider team, and other Stakeholders
- Act as secretary to the Programme, Project and Customer boards as required.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
