Overview

Sustainability Manager supports our 3 key regions in commercializing and simplifying sustainability by coordinating sustainability progress within EMEA against Ball’s sustainability goals, providing regional customers with the sustainability expertise required to help them achieve their sustainability goals. The role will be engaging with various stakeholder groups that influence the standardization of sustainable packaging assessments in Europe (e.g. life cycle assessment, circularity scores) and enhancing Ball’s thought leadership position by feeding accurate technical sustainability content to Public Affairs and Sustainability, Commercial, Marketing and Communication departments.

 

Key responsibilities include:

•    Lead the development of customer-specific carbon roadmaps and responding to customer surveys and requests relating to greenhouse gas emissions, product carbon footprints, circularity, and additional sustainability KPIs.

•    Develop relationships with internal teams building a deep understanding of wider organisational issues, challenging current processes and provoking new thinking

•    Maintain Ball’s Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification across the region and supporting customers in becoming ASI certified to increase the production of ASI-certified cans in the marketplace

•    Build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring alignment on global greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water and waste targets

•    Work with regional Procurement to advance responsible procurement practices in the region and support the business in achieving 100% ASI-certified aluminum supply

•    Coordinate with Engineering regular Big 6 performance reviews and ensure alignment with global greenhouse gas emission, energy, water, waste and VOC goals

•    Work with BPEMEA Public Affairs and Sustainability team in coordinating Ball’s engagement in technical discussions around carbon footprinting, life cycle assessment and circularity score methodologies to ensure aluminum cans are represented appropriately and not disadvantaged

•    Support Communication and Marketing as well as regional leadership team in developing and promoting technically sound sustainability messaging

 

What are we looking for?

•    University degree, ideally any graduate or postgraduate degree in Environmental Science

•    8+ years job experience, ideally in the packaging industry

•    Experience in corporate sustainability management

•    Knowledge of life cycle assessment

•    Knowledge of packaging, recycling and waste sector

•    Fluent in English language
