Your Role

You will be a technical expert in environmental and sustainability matters with a particular emphasis on infrastructure, its decarbonisation and impact on the environment, through business case development. You will give advice on policy and strategic direction to support the development of the GM 5 Year Environment Plan, the 2040 Greater Manchester Transport Strategy and through developing collaborative and influential partnerships support the Greater Manchester to be a greener, fairer and more prosperous city region.

Who are we?

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) delivers the transport strategy and commitments for Greater Manchester.  We are facing new and exciting challenges with the delivery of the Bee Network – our fully integrated transport system across Greater Manchester – so it’s never been a better time to join us.

In this role, you will be part of the Logistics and Environment Team within the Transport Strategy Directorate. The team is committed to supporting the delivery of a Greater Manchester transport system that operates safely, sustainably and efficiently.

You will bring in-depth technical expertise on low-carbon and sustainability issues in a transport and infrastructure environment. You will bring demonstrable experience in whole life carbon quantification, accounting, analysis and be able to interpret and feedback on carbon management and sustainability plans. Your technical expertise will support projects and the development of strategy, policy and procedure to achieve positive environmental outcomes.

You will have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with demonstrable experience of negotiating, influencing and achieving positive results.

This is a permanent role with a salary of £46,249 – £51,576 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
