Our Sustainability and Carbon team is seeking a capable Sustainability and Carbon Consultant with some experience in embedding sustainability into large scale infrastructure projects and corporate strategies who can hit the ground running and begin having an impact. Residing within the Infrastructure division’s Sustainable Futures Practice, this part of the business has been developed specifically to support our clients on their sustainability journey.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other teams across the business, at the strategic level as well as through the lifecycle of major infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking to develop their career within this rapidly growing space. The candidate will create positive sustainable change for high profile clients throughout the UK where capability and an eagerness to learn will be both recognised and rewarded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing support on carbon, sustainability, and net zero for our existing portfolio of major infrastructure projects and strategic clients.
- Supporting the development of innovative carbon and sustainability strategies, designs, solutions, and management plans.
- Project manage and coordinate sustainability inputs on major infrastructure projects.
- When required, represent the company at external networks and continue to build their personal, team and company reputation.
- Support bid proposals, helping to author our submissions and ensuring win themes are retained throughout.
Requirements:
- The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental / engineering related discipline and will be registered with a recognised relevant professional body, a master’s degree would be advantageous.
- Prior experience and up to date knowledge in some of the following is required: carbon accounting / reporting, decarbonisation/net zero roadmaps, sustainability assessments, whole life carbon, sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy, renewable energy feasibility studies, supply chain engagement.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including technical specialists at different levels.
- Have strong report writing, communication and presentation skills which can be tailored to a range of audiences, seniorities, and technical competencies.
- Understand some UK sustainability and carbon guidance and standards used within infrastructure, such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and PAS2080.
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
