Cundall’s Bristol office opened in 2023 and is growing quickly so there is opportunity to be part of that growth and continued success in establishing in a new market.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and motivated Senior or Principal Engineer to join our team in Bristol, to work on some of the most exciting sustainable design projects in the UK and around the world.
Working under the guidance and supervision of more experienced staff, you will develop your existing knowledge and skills in energy modelling and assist with the development of energy and sustainability strategies for new build and existing buildings. Over time you will be supported and encouraged to work towards Chartership, through one of our accredited training schemes.
The role will include supporting and developing some of our key work streams:
- Building physics and parametric modelling
- Certifications (e.g., BREEAM, WELL, LEED, etc.)
- Whole Life Carbon
You will also be expected to support Cundall’s One Planet Living aspirations.
The Skills
Educated to Masters level in Engineering and having gained relevant practical experience in a similar role, you have demonstrable knowledge and experience of building physics, particularly in relation to heat transfer, energy, comfort criteria, CIBSE Guidance and other industry standards.
An in-depth knowledge of dynamic simulation software and the UK Building Regulations, including a complete understanding of the National Calculation Methodology is fundamental, as is a good understanding of mechanical design.
You will have knowledge and experience of environmental rating tools, such as BREEAM, LEED, SKA, HQM, Reset, WELL and/or other environmental assessment methodologies, from pre-assessment to post-construction stage assessments.
An appreciation of coding or a modern programming language is a requirement.
Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, effective communication skills and some experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
