The Role

West Suffolk Council is seeking to recruit an Senior Energy and Sustainability Officer into the Energy and Sustainability Team at West Suffolk Council. 

The purpose of this role is to deliver environmental projects across West Suffolk making environmental improvements for the council, its residents, its communities, and its businesses. 

Working as part of our highly experienced and busy team, you will be involved in a wide range of environmental work. The role will support the team to deliver across a range of functions including planning responses, renewable energy systems, electric vehicle charging, and environmental management systems. 

The role will involve developing and delivering energy efficiency projects, including submitting funding applications, preparing contract documents, and designing procurement specifications. You will work collaboratively with and support our customers, businesses, and other partners to bring about environmental improvements. 

What you will need: 

  • Experience of developing and delivering energy projects.
  • A good understanding of the planning system and BREEAM
  • The ability to engage with a range of stakeholders including other local authorities and private sector partners.
