We are an international company, working for public and private sector Clients across a range of programme and project consultancy services. This includes sustainability and asset management. How property and real estate are managed are critical success factors for most organisations. We optimise our clients’ property strategies by aligning it to their business goals. A core element of that strategy includes achievement of Net Zero Carbon for many of our clients.

The team are based in London but work on projects nationally. This includes retrofit and net zero carbon advisory services (including baselining and road-mapping net zero interventions), asset and facilities management advisory, environmental rating tools (BREEAM, Ska, Well Building etc); carbon management services; and post-occupancy evaluation and building performance. We also delivery broader sustainability strategy services.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Senior Consultant who will work with our team to deliver our net zero carbon retrofit advisory services.  The right person will have a passion for and experience in sustainability and net zero carbon.

The role will focus on working with client organisations to baseline operational carbon from their building portfolios (either at whole estate or individual building level) and developing net zero roadmaps for Scope 1 and 2 operational carbons. At a high-level this will include:

Developing a proposal outlining scope of work and fee managing the project through delivery including resource, commercials and stakeholders coordinating a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, surveyors, cost managers and consultants conducting site visits to audit buildings and establish technology feasibility developing and reporting on baseline and roadmaps through workshops, written reports, and dashboard outputs developing lasting, long-term partnerships with client organisations upskilling junior colleagues in relevant aspects of technical, commercial and client areas

Your permanent location will be our London offices, though we have a flexible working approach. The role may include travel to clients’ offices/ sites throughout the UK. Candidates will be expected to attain an appropriate level of UK security clearance.

The range of experience we are looking for is diverse. We have outlined beneficial experience below though we wouldn’t expect all of these to be addressed:

Technical:

Required:

  • Experience baselining Scope 1 and 2 operational carbon emissions.
  • Experience of building retrofit strategy development across a wide range of building types.
  • A strong understanding of building physics.
  • An understanding of technologies and approaches that can be used to enhance building performance.
  • Experience carrying out high-level energy audits of sites to understand energy use and feasible energy saving measures.
  • Calculation of energy and carbon emissions from a range of technology types, including energy efficiency, renewable, and heat decarbonisation feasibility studies.
  • Knowledgeable regarding relevant standards, benchmarks, and guidance for example: UKGBC, CIBSE, LETI, CRREM.
  • Knowledgeable regarding funding routes, for example: Salix Finance.
  • Knowledgeable on design stage, construction, and in-use stages. Able to provide advice to clients and design teams on the most cost-effective and beneficial route to achieve sustainability targets.
  • Experience modelling, workshopping, and reporting on net zero carbon roadmaps.
  • Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., engineers, buildings surveyors, project managers, consultants, cost managers and technical specialists) to deliver a client brief.
  • Experience developing proposed scopes of work, fee models, and proposals in response to ITTs or a client brief.

Competent in Microsoft Office and Windows applications.

Preferred:

  • Experience integrating wider sustainability objectives into net zero strategies and programmes (for example: circular economy principles, biodiversity net gain, social value, ecosystem services, climate resilience and adaptation, and operational resilience).
  • Measurement and Verification (design and application of M&V Plans in accordance with IPMVP or other recognised standard).
  • Experience developing estate-wide sustainability strategies.
  • Experience of whole life carbon assessments and reducing embodied carbon in design.
  • Experience baselining Scope 3 carbon emissions.
  • Experience developing or delivering climate adaptation / mitigation strategies.
  • Passivhaus knowledge.
  • Low Carbon Energy Assessor accreditation would be beneficial.
  • MSc in an Engineering, Energy, or related field.

Consultancy and other skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to initiative, build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Able to facilitate workshops with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Confident with an ability to assimilate within a team and maintain/develop the business.
  • Commercial awareness and confident in preparing bid documents and managing resources, deliverables, and budgets on live projects.
  • The context of this work is changing so candidate should be confident in undertaking independent research into sustainability, energy and Net Zero related topics.
  • High level of energy with lots of drive and enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to be flexible and to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
