Overview

The Sustainability & Risk Senior Analyst role will closely collaborate with the Head of Global Sustainability Risk in identifying, assessing, and managing climate and nature-related risks and opportunities. They will also share responsibility in embedding sustainability risk management within RGA’s ERM framework for a consistent, value-adding and flexible risk management framework across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

Drive the execution of RGA’s Sustainability risk strategy including the integration of RGA’s Sustainability risk strategy into RGA’s ERM framework:

  • Collaborate with the first line for sustainability risk identification activities for RGA and provide suitable review and challenge
  • Be the sustainability risk expert within Global Risk Services
  • Support colleagues across the business to meet key disclosure requirements, including regulatory reporting and group publications to ensure RGA meets the requirement needs of a continuously evolving sustainability regulatory landscape
  • Support the identification, assessment and management of sustainability-related risks and opportunities
  • Develop management information for sustainability risk reporting, manage production of reports, and review outputs
  • In partnership with global stakeholders develop materials, tools and methodologies to support RGA’s Sustainability risk strategy
  • Schedule and take timely meeting notes of the various sustainability-related governance meetings such as Climate Scenario Analysis Working Group, ESG Risk Committee and RGA ESG Steering Committee
  • Work with Business Partners to track and share climate risk/ESG client engagement and activity (Client Value at Risk)

Collaborate with the Head of Global Sustainability Risk, in leading RGA’s Climate Scenario Analysis WG as we continue to enhance RGA’s firm-wide response to regulatory requirements and company strategy:

  • Ensure the smooth running of RGA’s monthly climate scenario analysis working group meetings
  • Provide objective challenge to various stakeholders
  • Facilitate meetings as required, including timely meeting notes and meeting materials
  • Guide the use of climate scenario output in RGA’s legal entity ORSA as required

Support in leading RGA’s Emerging Risks Working Group (ERWG):

  • Drive agenda and related materials relevant for the ERWG to mature the integration of emerging risks into RGA’s ERM framework.
  • Design and execute RGA’s annual Global Emerging Risks Survey
  • Work with Business Partners globally to implement RGA’s Emerging Risks Scorecard
  • Regularly monitor and follow-up trends via RGA’s Emerging Risks Scorecard to increase RGA’s preparedness
  • Partner with the ERWG and other Subject Matter Experts to produce thought leadership content with a risk lens

Assist the Head of Global Sustainability Risk in leading the Inherent & Residual Risk Project. This is a multi-year project to design and implement a quantitative inherent and residual risk assessment process:

  • Support the design and execution of the project as needed, including the design and implementation of various risk tools to improve the oversight of controls at the segment and enterprise level and drive meaningful risk insights for the first and second line.
  • Facilitates, as needed with the related SRMOs, the design and implementation of various project deliverables for RGA’s business segments and regions

Requirements

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in climate and sustainability
  • Proven experience in enterprise risk management or related risk fields
  • Experience working in enterprise risk management disciplines with a focus on risk & control self-assessments, emerging risks and key risk indicators
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders at various levels
  • Excellent ability to drive to conclusions and deliver results on a timely basis
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing experience, research, guidelines, and internal resource networks
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational issues
  • Advanced project management skills. Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan
  • Proven experience in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including the ability to handle changing priorities
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, teamwork oriented and customer service focused environment that leads to consistent, value-adding solutions
  • Able to quickly learn and understand the business of RGA
  • Able to work autonomously as part of a global team and also manage time zone scheduling challenges
  • Strong PC and technical skills, including spreadsheets and presentation software

Preferred:

  • Recognized enterprise risk management designation or education
  • Master’s Degree, MBA, FSA or CPA/CA
  • Cross company and/or cross industry risk management experience
