The School of Engineering seeks to appoint an outstanding international researcher to the post of Professor of Energy and Sustainability to contribute to relevant activities on a national and international scale, including our Centre of Research Excellence in Energy.
The Centre of Research Excellence in Energy at Newcastle University stands at the forefront of pioneering research and innovation in the energy sector. As a hub of excellence, we are dedicated to exploring sustainable and efficient energy solutions to address global challenges. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide an ideal environment for groundbreaking research and collaboration.
We focus on a wide array of areas including renewable energy technologies, smart grids, energy policy, and the reduction of carbon emissions. Our commitment to excellence has positioned us as a leader in energy research, both nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop our infrastructure through substantial investment in physical and digital whole energy systems modelling, exploit our deep partnership with utility companies (e.g. Northern Gas Networks, Northern Power Grid, Northumbrian Water) and global corporates (e.g. Siemens), and provide a venue for innovative education programmes at the cutting edge of 21st Century Energy provision.
In addition to bringing together disciplines within the School of Engineering and from across the University, the role will also engage with charitable groups and industry/business partners who provide us with financial, logistical and in-kind support for our research projects.
