Urbanwise.London is an educational charity based in West London, established in 1983.
Our aims are to:
- Promote active outdoor learning in the local environment
- Empower young people to take positive action on climate change
- Inspire people to discover their London
We are looking for an enthusiastic Greener Canalside and Learning Officer to lead volunteers in practical greening projects along our local canal and to work with schools and community groups, delivering environmental education sessions.
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience of leading volunteer groups on practical environmental projects in an urban setting.
- Experience in or understanding of running climate change education sessions with community groups.
- Experience in delivering education sessions eg. teaching in school, community education, environmental centre or college.
- Ability to communicate and liaise with a wide range of people including individuals and groups, the Council, other voluntary organisations, schools and colleges and local business.
- An understanding of the relevance of safeguarding, equality and diversity to the work of Urbanwise.London.
Desirable:
- Experience of health and safety related to water
- Experience of developing after school activities for children and young people
Successful candidates will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
