To build on our success, we are looking for a passionate Environmental Sustainability and Consents Manager to join our infrastructure team located at the Newark (A46) site office where Skanska is working alongside National Highways to deliver the design and build of road upgrades. The role’s purpose is to influence, develop and drive environmental excellence through the planning and delivery phases of the major road project.
You will:
- Support the development of environmental management systems and plans, ensuring the successful coordination of applications and timely acquisition of permits and consents.
- Manage approved permits and consents register and handle permitting requirements as needed.
- Communicate permitting conditions to the site team and undertake permit/consent compliance inspections.
- Identify, appraise and communicate environmental risks and opportunities.
- Manage and collaborate with environmental specialists, consultants and suppliers to develop plans, commitments and requirements.
- Assist the OU Lead Environmental Sustainability Manager and team in delivering best practice initiatives and improvement projects, oversee environmental training for project staff, represent the Sustainability and Innovation Enabling Function in meetings and forums, and act as an environmental representative with clients, local authorities, and regulators.
We’re looking for:
- Degree level in appropriate environmental or relevant discipline.
- At least 5 years’ construction industry experience or environmental experience in a similar sector.
- Experience in environmental permitting and delivery of environmental management in major construction projects, particularly planning stage.
- Full membership with IEMA of similar professional membership.
- Full driving license and willingness to travel to projects in region.
