Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environment and Sustainability Advisor to join the Sustainability & Environment Department at Wilson James on a temporary 9-month FTC maternity cover basis. In this role, you will work closely with the Sustainability Manager to enhance Wilson James’ environmental performance across the business. You will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of our Environmental Management System (EMS) and collaborating with teams across the organisation to help achieve our corporate environmental objectives.

A typical day in the life as an Environment and Sustainability Advisor:

  •  Contribute to the management and implementation of the EMS through reviewing environmental documentation, overseeing environmental controls across business sites, and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with EMS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure environmental assurance and compliance through audits and inspections, including waste audits, site environmental audits, supplier capability audits, and ISO14001 audits.
  • Carry out monitoring and investigation of environmental incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions to mitigate future occurrences.
  •  Support engagement with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Enhance environmental management understanding across the business through the design and delivery of toolbox talks and environmental emergency response drills.
  • Collate sustainability and environmental performance data to support CDP, SECR, and ESOS reporting.

What are we looking for?

  • Ideally qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Environmental related discipline.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement with well-developed communication skills with site staff, clients and regulators.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret environmental data and translate that into detailed reports, generate trends and create action plans.
  • Experience with carbon accounting and reporting
  • Experience with Environmental Management Systems with a solid background in ISO14001
  • Have the ability to travel independently to various sites across the UK on a regular basis.
