Overview

The Procurement Manager Utilities, Sustainability and Lab Management is an EMEA regional category management role, responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate and market leading sourcing strategies. The Procurement Manager will make a critical contribution to the growth and performance of the EMEA based BD operations, and develop subject matter expertise in the relevant categories.

Reporting to the Associate Director Plant Indirect EMEA, the Procurement Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Global Category Managers in the development of Global Sourcing Strategies, as well as the development of Regional and Local Strategies where appropriate. It is the responsibility of the Procurement Manager to ensure the successful implementation of all strategies in the EMEA region and the corresponding projects. Implementation commonly covers procurement aspects of supplier qualification, bidding & supplier selection, negotiation and contract execution.

BD has more than sixty EMEA locations and cover medical technology manufacturing, supply chain, R&D and corporate offices in more than thirty countries.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide category subject matter expertise and support to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the Global Category Managers in the development of Global Sourcing Strategies, as well as the development of Regional and Local Strategies where appropriate.
  • Successful implementation of all Procurement strategies in the EMEA region and the corresponding projects.
  • Develops and maintains strong network and communications with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Executes responsibilities with a large degree of autonomy, requiring minimal day-to-day oversight by immediate supervisor.
  • Flexibility to support other categories within the EMEA and Global field.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to deliver BD’s Sustainability Objectives, identifying and securing 3rd party/governmental funding and subsidies.

About you

  • Experienced procurement professional with history of operating within an operational/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the strategic procurement of Opex and Capex Plant Indirect categories, specifically: Utilities, Sustainability, Lab Management (consumables, services & equipment), and also MRO, Facilities Management, Capital Manufacturing Equipment, Construction.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional work experience in multi-national corporate environment, of which minimum 3 years in a strategic sourcing or category management role.
  • Passion to drive change in a dynamic, growing business environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field. (preferable)
  • CIPS qualified or equivalent. (preferable)
  • Advanced understanding of procurement within the Facilities industry
  • Understanding of procurement within the Utilities industry
  • Solid understanding of Source-to-procure process and proficiency in applying associated sourcing tools and techniques
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in fluent English.
