The Director of Sustainable Investment Data Management is responsible for developing and implementing data management practices to manage the companies SI data for the FTSE Russell SI & ESG indices. The role sits in Benchmark and Index Management within FTSE Russell and reports into the Global Head of Index Data Management. It will involve the running of the global SI Data team as well as significantly transforming how we collect, control, store and integrate our SI data.
The Index Business requires a strong, scalable operational control framework to provide clients high quality Sustainable Investment & ESG datasets to serve as inputs to the various indices and benchmarks.
The Director of Sustainable Investment Data Management role requires strong people management skills to oversee the global SI Data Operations Team. The role requires leadership, communication, strategic thinking, team building, operational and risk management, data quality control, integrity, and analytical skills. A successful candidate will have experience in global operational management, be able to identify and handle operational risks, and ensure data accuracy and quality across the index data value chain. The individual should possess strong critical thinking skills, work collaboratively, and can analyse sophisticated data sets.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Directing and leading all aspects of the daily management of SI and ESG Index Data attributes to the highest degree of accuracy
- Support in the development of junior resources through formal training and coaching/mentoring
- Ensuring the SI Data Operations Team adheres to a robust controls framework that adheres to regulatory standards and proactively minimizes operational risk
- Provide subject matter expertise to our internal and external clients as it pertains to our data
- A key leading role within client engagement strategy, and will be involved in client meetings, due diligence reviews and client satisfaction reviews
- A key executive of the governance process and committees within FTSE Russell that oversee standards and policies in the management of FTSE Russell indexes
- Work with Technology Partners to articulate and define business and operational requirements
Key Skills:
- Experience in working with SI data sets for use in Index construction
- Ability to work with technology to produce technical requirements for business and operational use cases
- Data architecture experience for management data effectively, ensuring data quality and accessibility
- Understanding of data lifecycle management
- Demonstrable years of relevant financial data business experience; experience in the global index or data management industry
- Experience in operational management of a multi-locational distributed team; lean engineering expertise would be beneficial
- Experience in leading operational risk reduction programs of work
- Demonstrated success in high quality execution of large-scale operational initiatives
- Highly proficient analytical skills with proven track record to optimally multi-task
- Excellent team building and communications skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Highly proficient with SQL and Excel. Working knowledge of Python beneficial
- Understanding of the regulatory requirements pertaining to the ESG and Index business
- Proficient in developing data quality control
