Would you like to lead a passionate dedicated team who are at the forefront of tackling the energy crisis and fuel poverty, and helping households to reach net zero?
We are looking for a dynamic individual who’s motivated to help us deliver our charitable mission to end the misery of cold homes and tackle climate change. You will join our Senior Leadership Team and work with the Head of Advice and Head of Retrofit to lead a team of over 60 people.
The successful candidate will direct – and take overall responsibility for – the development and delivery of CSE’s work to provide energy advice and low carbon housing refurbishment services for householders. And they will contribute to the development of the charity’s organisational strategy and help us deliver our mission to end the misery of cold homes and tackle climate change.
Place of work and other requirements
This post is based at the CSE office in Bristol, with occasional travel around the UK. CSE operates a system of hybrid working but as a director at least two days a week presence in CSE’s office is required
The post-holder will undertake the City & Guilds Energy Awareness qualification as part of their induction, if they do not already hold energy advice qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of and commitment to CSE’s primary objectives to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes
- Understanding of the UK energy system and the shifts required to achieve a smarter, greener, and fairer energy system
- Knowledge of energy-related consumer issues and energy regulation in Great Britain
- Extensive demonstrably successful senior leadership experience
- Substantial work experience relevant to the work of the team
- Experience of team and line management, including developing staff to reach their full potential
- Experience of client and funder relationship management
- Proven track record in fundraising and development
- Experience of management of concurrent projects and/or multiple deadlines
- Strong leadership skills, demonstrating in the context of a team or work area
- A positive approach and flexible attitude to work
- Excellent self-motivation and initiative
- Excellent written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus
- Ability to influence and motivate others
- Strong reporting and analytical skills (ability to summarise and present complex information in an accessible way)
- Ability to contribute and provide oversight on organisational budgets and finances
- Ability to design and implement efficient and effective management systems and processes
- Ability to manage your own workload and support others to prioritise strategically
- Broad understanding of sustainable energy technologies, systems and techniques
- Broad knowledge of UK sustainable energy policy and practice
