We are looking for healthcare sustainability experienced candidates to drive the team on strategic and operational development of the Sustainability and Innovation agenda that support both the CNO ambitions and the wider NHS plans regarding the delivery of a net carbon zero health system.
The postholder will have a proven track record in population and public health, demonstrating their ability to drive professional, systemic, and practice transformations that deliver tangible benefits for individuals, families, communities, and the profession. This will also include evidence of designing safe, effective, and efficient systems of care that have improved practice and productivity. Additionally, the postholder will be a compassionate and inclusive leader, collaborating with clinical leaders to formulate a robust strategy and networks aimed at engaging the nursing and midwifery workforce in sustainability and innovation initiatives.
Main duties of the job:
- Provision of national nursing and midwifery leadership in the design and formulation of strategic actions and models to achieve the NHS’s net zero ambitions.
- Develop, design, and implement nursing and midwifery-specific enabling models of practice and climate-smart pathways.
- Lead the design, and implementation of the National Nursing and Midwifery Net Zero Clinical Transformation Exemplar Programme.
- Oversee the development of the Nursing and Midwifery Sustainability Hub/Networks and establish a Nursing and Midwifery Repository of Best Practices
- Build sustainability capacity, capability, and expertise in the application of quality improvement and sustainability sciences across nursing and midwifery programmes of care, including the development of specialist practice roles.
- Develop highly functioning partnerships with the Greener NHS, within the wider NHS England organisation, social care, and as appropriate, other health care systems across the UK.
- Take a lead in developing an integrated approach to nursing and midwifery innovation and clinical entrepreneurship.
Essential requirements:
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Experience at a senior manager level with recent NHS operational or clinical management experience within provider settings we need to include other organizations e.g professional bodies and charities
- Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and planetary health and appreciate the implications on this engagement
- Ability to communicate with clinical, academic and all levels of staff effectively with strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
