Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow wishing to advance their career in a research-driven, interdisciplinary environment, beginning 1 April 2024 or soon after, for 24 months. The Fellow will support the Dr Lirong Liu in delivering the UKRI funded project Energy Demand Research Centre. The project offers an excellent opportunity to develop research expertise in a collaborative project by working with an interdisciplinary team involving diverse partners.
The Research Fellow will carry out research for the project in Equity theme that is finding out how different energy demand solutions can deliver an affordable, clean and more equitable net zero energy system. You will focus predominantly on develop an energy-demand focused optimisation model with the equity maximisation as the function and apply this model for examples of communities. You will use AI techniques to address the multi-objective and diverse challenges. Your work will also include literature reviews, data-analysis, writing reports, supporting project management, as well as liaising with team members (external and internal). UK and international travel may be required.
About you
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Power and Energy system, Environment, Sustainability or a related discipline, data analysis skills, and ideally have some expertise in AI skills.
Please note, it is University Policy to offer a starting salary equivalent to Level 3.6 (£34,980) to successful applicants who have been awarded, but are yet to receive, their PhD certificate. Once the original PhD certificate has been submitted to the local HR Department, the salary will be increased to Level 4.1 (£36,024).
