Opportunity to lead an excellent team. We offer a competitive salary ranging from £66,190 to £75,010 per year (including London weighting). An additional, discretionary market forces supplement of up to 10% of the base salary may be applied depending on skills and experience.

Shape the Future of International Policy in Financial Services

The City of London Corporation seeks an exceptional leader to take on the role of Head of Sustainable Finance Innovation. This is a unique opportunity to drive strategic initiatives that enhance the UK’s position as a global leader in sustainable finance.

About the role

You will spearhead the Corporation’s efforts to ensure the UK maintains its leadership position in sustainable finance. You will manage a talented team of five FTEs and work closely with colleagues across the organisation who lead on wider aspects of the sustainability agenda.

The City of London’s Policy & Innovation Team is an open, inclusive and innovative team. New ideas are welcome, we encourage ownership and authenticity and embrace diversity. As Head of Sustainable Finance Innovation, you will lead the City of London’s work on emerging sustainable finance issues, keeping your finger on the pulse of latest developments in this area. This includes crucial issues, such as carbon markets, transition finance, nature/biodiversity, impact investing and the City’s COP engagement programme. Your team will also deliver the City’s flagship sustainability event, the Net Zero Delivery Summit. The postholder will work closely with the FPS industry, relevant trade associations and other sustainability initiatives and organisations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and execution of strategies that mobilise capital to reach net zero.
  • Providing thought leadership on the expansion of existing sustainable finance markets, and development of new offerings, influencing decision-makers at the highest levels.
  • Shaping and implementing strategies for engagement with key stakeholders in the UK and abroad.
  • Ensuring the UK FPS industry’s voice is central to sustainability policy discussions.
  • Representing the City of London in industry working groups and vis-à-vis senior stakeholders in the public and private sector in the UK and abroad.

 

About You

We’re looking for a forward-thinking professional with:

  • In-depth knowledge of sustainable finance policy, market trends and a network within the SF community.
  • Proven expertise in engaging with UK and global stakeholders, from government bodies to trade associations.
  • A track record of managing teams and driving results in complex policy environments.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • You’ll bring vision, political sensitivity and the ability to deliver impactful strategies in a fast- paced environment.
