Overview
The Fertecon Analysis team is part of the S&P Global Agribusiness business unit and sits in the Fuels, Chemicals and Resource Solutions (FCRS) business line within the Commodity Insights division. For more than 40 years it has been the leading source of market information and analysis on fertilizers and fertilizer raw materials, producing a range of short- and long-term analysis products to provide data, analysis and insight on the fertilizer market and related products.
Responsibilities and Impact:
- Fertilizers play an essential role in increasing and stabilizing crop yields by providing nutrients to plants – however, as chemical products, they do have an environmental footprint, which is increasingly subject to regulatory scrutiny.
- As part of S&P Global’s ongoing investment in Agribusiness, the Fertilizers Analysis team will increase its coverage of topics related to sustainable fertilizer usage. The current recruitment supports this initiative.
- You will be tasked with taking ownership of a designated deliverable relating to sustainability; coordinating with the wider Agribusiness Sustainability team; and preparing new analysis whenever applicable to the fertilizer industry. The outcome will include customer deliverables.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- The most important aspect: innate curiosity and a thirst for learning. You will be required to develop independent analysis and deliver it to our customers – internal and external. Drive and passion about the subject matter will be the most important foundation for success.
- Qualifications and experience: University degree or above (or equivalent certification/training), ideally in relevant subjects such as policy analysis, political sciences, economics, chemical engineering, agronomics (with the most relevant subject being preferred for specific roles).
- Previous relevant work experience in the wider fertilizer, agribusiness, chemicals, or commodities industry, while not strictly necessary, is preferred.
- Strong command of English language, preferably with direct experience in producing written analytical reports.
- Literacy in the MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and wider digital literacy; knowledge of programming languages such as Python and experience with prompt engineering using GenAI tools will be an advantage.
