Due to the rapid and exciting growth of our internal environmental consultancy services, we’re looking for a Sustainability Specialist, to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in delivering a diverse range of projects across the UK, spanning the road, rail, water, and property sectors. A full driving licence is essential for this role.

Location: Nationwide– travel to sites and offices required, with remote working available

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per year + £5.9k annual car allowance + private healthcare + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As Sustainability Specialist, you’ll be supporting the delivery of sustainability services for a range of exciting projects across the UK in the road, rail, water and property sectors, providing technical advice, carrying out carbon and sustainability assessments and supporting decarbonisation strategies and net zero goals.

Your day to day will include:

  • Reporting to the Sustainability and Climate Lead, supporting in the delivery of sustainability and carbon consultancy services across a range of sectors including road, rail, water and property
  • Acting as a focal point for technical advice on decarbonisation strategies, aligning with carbon budgets and Net Zero goals
  • Conducting detailed carbon assessments for buildings and infrastructure such as Whole Life Carbon Assessments (WLCA) and developing carbon management plans
  • Supporting on green building certification assessments such as BREEAM, LEED, NABERS, WELL
  • Inputting into stakeholder engagement sessions and workshops to promote carbon reduction throughout all project phases, working collaboratively with designers, client and supply chain

What are we looking for?

This role of Sustainability Specialist, is great for you if:

  • A degree in Ecology or equivalent experience, Practitioner member of ISEP (or equivalent) and working towards CEnv
  • Robust understanding of UK climate legislation, policy drivers and standards, strong working knowledge of WLCA and carbon accounting utilising software such as One Click LCA (or similar), demonstrable experience carrying out WLCAs, carbon accounting and reporting, experience supporting green building certification assessments such as BREEAM, LEED, NABERS, WELL
  • Strong report writing skills including developing carbon management plan, with an understanding of engineering / construction requirements and methodologies
