An opportunity has arisen within our Credit and Sustainability Risk team.

The Credit and Sustainability Risk team is responsible for Credit Risk and Sustainability Risk oversight, Credit Risk models and the delivery of our bank’s Internal Ratings Based Approach application. The breadth of the deliverables and the fact that processes, modelling- and analytical capabilities are continuously being developed and improved demands a flexible and collaborative approach from team members to ensure solid team performance in coordination with the business.

This role will work within the Credit and Sustainability risk team to ensure that sustainability risk considerations are fully embedded across the Bank in alignment with regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Develop and lead the bank’s sustainability risk strategy, coordinating the integration of risks into the risk management framework. Oversee the identification, assessment and monitoring of sustainability risks and opportunities.
  • Act as the Bank’s subject matter expert on sustainability risks, keeping the executive layer informed of emerging risks, regulatory developments and market expectations.
  • Respond to climate-risk regulatory engagements and engage proactively with industry bodies to influence and respond to evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain and monitor climate risk tolerance statements and supporting indicators.
  • Perform climate change scenario analysis and support the expansion of the current climate modelling capabilities.
  • Provide the sustainability risk input into the Bank’s disclosures and ensure compliance with future UK sustainability reporting standards.
  • Quarterly reporting on sustainability risk embedment progress to the Bank’s Management and Board Risk committees.
  • Provide input to the wider sustainability work in the Bank, particularly when it comes to implementing the Bank’s Sustainability strategy.
  • Support the sustainability team in the development of the Bank’s sustainability data capabilities.
  • Support the embedment of sustainability risk in business planning and strategy.
  • Coordinate the development of tools and MI to support 1LOD in the assessment of risks and opportunities.
  • Perform horizon scanning around sustainability risk regulatory requirements and ensure coordination with the relevant stakeholders across the bank for the assessment of any new regulatory requirements. Tracking of the action plans to remediate identified gaps.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant experience working in financial services with previous experience in climate risk management;
  • Knowledge of the evolving Climate and Sustainability risk, data and reporting landscape within the UK;
  • Have strong analytical skills and good numerical skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to  analyse, articulate and present complex issues clearly and concisely;
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent Handelsbanken effectively;
  • Ability to work well under pressure; whilst maintaining attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
