Overview
Are you passionate about creating a more sustainable future and ready to make a real impact at scale? Do you want to help one of the UK’s most recognisable hotel brands embed sustainability into everything it does? At Travelodge, we’re on a mission to ensure that “sustainability runs through everything we do”—and we’re looking for someone who can help turn that ambition into action.
What’s it all about?
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering our Better Future Plan—bringing sustainability to life through real projects and measurable progress. From managing our full carbon footprint and advancing energy initiatives to supporting our circular economy and nature programmes, you’ll help turn strategy into delivery. You’ll work closely with the Director of Sustainability, ensuring our goals are met, our progress tracked, and our annual Better Future report tells a clear and credible story about our achievements.
You’ll also play a key role in governance and reporting—preparing insights and data for sustainability committees, ensuring compliance with regulations such as SECR, ESOS, and TCFD, and maintaining robust records that support transparency and accountability. Your attention to detail and ability to analyse complex information will help identify risks, highlight progress, and keep our sustainability strategy on track.
Success in this role will rely on your ability to build strong relationships across the business—from Operations and Property to Procurement and IT—and to collaborate confidently with external partners and consultants. You’ll communicate clearly, present your work effectively to senior leaders, and help create momentum behind initiatives that make a tangible difference.
Why Travelodge?
We believe in creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can be their true self and belong. We work hard to improve the diversity of our teams and celebrate our differences. And we care about our colleagues’ wellbeing, so we ensure there are plenty of resources available so everyone can look after their emotional, physical, financial and work wellbeing. We call this “Better Me”.
Who will this appeal to?
We’re looking for a person who is experienced in managing projects to reflect the broad number of topics the Better Future plan contains, and who can work directly to achieve these in some areas and indirectly with the wider business to achieve others. You’ll be passionate about sustainability and will ideally hold an external qualification i.e ISEP/IEMA membership. Experience in energy management and projects that reduce consumption and carbon emissions is essential.
Your work will bring you into contact with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, and so you will be experienced in influencing people at a range of levels, and have experience presenting the output of your work at a variety of levels within the business.
