We are seeking a Sustainability Executive to champion our environmental initiatives and help embed sustainability at the heart of everything we do.  You will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the business sustainability strategy and reporting plan and will drive activities intended to provide tools and guidance needed to radically improve the sustainability of business activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Use expertise, act as a point of contact for information relating to sustainability, communicating progress and feedback requirements as appropriate.
  • Assist with evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to support with the development of sustainable goals and achieve ‘net zero’ with business activities.
  • Engage with employees to establish a culture of sustainability, raising awareness through best behaviour.
  • Proactively participate in UK and EU sector sustainability development, in compliance with standards bodies (BSI, EN and IEC).
  • Collect and report business data including raw material use, energy and water use, production wastes and all data related to Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • Liaise with the Marketing & Communications team to ensure appropriate communications are provided to external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with R&D team to consult on best sustainable design practices.
  • Conduct research into equipment and schemes that benefit the business.
  • Create leadership and engagement tools, presentations and documents for stakeholders.
  • Work alongside the Purchase and Supply Chain team to ensure sustainability in procurement is at the core of business decisions.
  • Support sustainability projects, working proactively to ensure set objectives and timescales
  • Conduct a variety of internal sustainability compliance audits, including new and existing sites, report on findings and work proactively to drive issue resolution.
  • Maintain records and analyse statistics to ensure compliance.

About You:

  • Degree in an environmental based subject or demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and qualification in a vocational or specialist field relating to sustainability, environmental science or sustainability, research or relevant knowledge through work experience (NVQ Level 5).
  • Knowledge and good understanding of corporate sustainability standards.
  • Experience in auditing and analysing sustainability performance, identifying recommendations and providing reports based on findings to internal and external stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively influencing all levels of management.
  • Experience of successfully managing projects.
  • Desirable; Experience and knowledge of Electricity and Gas data, knowledge of sustainability applicable to buildings and plant.
  • Desirable; Previous experience in electrical appliance sector
  • Strong, prioritisation skills with ability to manage competing, conflicting demands.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel and PowerPoint.
