Overview

The Sustainability & Energy Coordinator will manage energy monitoring activities, maintain environmental databases, and reduce energy consumption through site visits and recommendations. The role involves promoting sustainable behaviours, supporting biodiversity projects, and providing advice on retrofitting initiatives and energy efficiency. Staying updated on sustainability developments and providing training to colleagues and tenants are also key responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage energy monitoring activities including meter readings and submissions to suppliers.
  • Maintain energy and environmental management systems along with relevant databases and records.
  • Benchmark energy performance across the Choice portfolio and take ownership of Choice landlord energy consumption to drive energy reduction.
  • Carry out energy site visits, make recommendations and take corrective action to reduce energy consumption.
  • Monitor and report on carbon emissions, including performance against targets.
  • Support the procurement and contract management of energy, including electric, natural gas and heating oil.
  • Monitor Solar PV electricity generation and obtain meter readings as required. Take action to ensure income and tenant savings are maximised.
  • Develop opportunities to improve performance in areas of property management, energy conservation and sustainability.
  • Support colleagues in delivery of sustainability & energy targets, initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Train colleagues and tenants on topics such as fuel poverty and reducing energy consumption and cost.
  • Promote sustainable behaviours such as sustainable transport, water usage and waste management with colleagues and tenants.
  • Organise events and workshops that promote the sustainability & energy initiatives of the Association.
  • Provide energy and sustainability advice to other Departments e.g. Development and Property Services.
  • Deliver biodiversity projects and initiatives for the Association, engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for the Association.
  • Provide information and support for the retrofit of our housing stock, in line with energy and carbon targets.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest developments in respect of sustainability and energy management, including new products and financial models.
