Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work with good organisation and time management
  • A genuine interest in and understanding of sustainability issues and relevant legislation
  • Understanding of UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks relevant to construction
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good communication and influencing skills

Desirable:

  • ISEP registered or similar & Experience of construction/engineering industry
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status
  • Skills card – CSCS Card (relevant type) All roles are expected to have the relevant competency skills cards where site-based work is required

Your contribution to our company

  • We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Sustainability Advisor to join the UK Build Subdivision of STRABAG UK. Working closely with the Senior Sustainability Advisor, the successful candidate will support the delivery of STRABAG UK’s sustainability strategy across major construction projects, ensuring compliance with environmental standards while driving innovation and best practice in sustainable construction.
  • This role will work closely with operational teams, clients, supply chain partners, and external stakeholders to embed sustainability principles throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Providing support and reporting to the Senior Sustainability Advisor, for project and business-related sustainability matters.
  • This role requires flexibility in your weekly work structure. There will an expectation to travel to our sites on a weekly basis. It is estimated that you will be required on site up to 3 days a week.
  • This role requires a UK Driving license and vehicle for site travel. Travel to site is compensated, travel to your home office is not.
  • Understanding of key drivers of carbon emissions for a construction company, knowledge will span from companywide Scope 1,2 and 3 targets and roadmap, down to design criteria of specific works on a project.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerBI, Python, or similar.
  • Follow PAS2080 guidance on all our sites.
  • Will be able to deliver OneClickLCA carbon models for prospective and live projects.
  • To be able to draft, and maintain our site-specific policies and procedures, in line with ISO50001, ISO 14001, ISO 46001.
  • Undertake internal audits and represent STRABAG in external audits.
  • Understand and oversee projects from the pre-construction stage until post-completion.
  • Grow your knowledge of the construction industry and understand the roles of different departments and how sustainability is included in each team.
  • Attend internal and external conferences and forums.
  • Become affiliated with a professional sustainability institution (ISEP).
