We’re now looking for an analytical, curious and forward thinking Strategy, Policy & Sustainability Analyst to help us understand trends, anticipate change and support evidence‑based decision making across the organisation.

About the Role/team

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves turning data, research and external intelligence into meaningful insight. As our Strategy, Policy & Sustainability Analyst, you’ll play a key role in helping us track progress against our Corporate Plan, understand emerging policy and regulatory changes, strengthen our ESG reporting and support the development of strategies that improve outcomes for residents.

You’ll work across the Strategy & Policy team and collaborate closely with colleagues in Finance, PMO, Data & Performance, Communications, Asset Management and Customer Experience. You’ll help us learn from best practice, monitor external developments and ensure our strategic decisions are grounded in strong evidence.

What You’ll Do

Strategic framework and Corporate Plan:

  • Support reporting and analysis for the Corporate Plan, ensuring progress is accurately tracked and clearly presented
  • Align strategic reporting with KPIs and the performance framework
  • Work with the PMO to connect strategic progress with the change portfolio
  • Prepare high‑quality reports and analysis for governance, Board and Executive audiences

Policy development and analysis:

  • Monitor emerging legislation, regulatory changes and government policy
  • Support the development of policy proposals, consultation responses and internal guidance
  • Contribute to Policy Impact Assessments, helping identify actions and assess organisational readiness

ESG and sustainability:

  • Support ESG reporting, including data gathering, validation and analysis
  • Contribute to the annual SECR report, ensuring accuracy and clarity
  • Analyse environmental trends, energy performance and carbon data
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen ESG reporting frameworks and approaches

Research and insight:

  • Conduct horizon scanning across policy, regulation, sector developments and environmental issues
  • Produce high‑quality summaries and briefings for senior audiences
  • Carry out best‑practice research and comparative analysis to inform strategy and policy
  • Translate complex information into clear, actionable insight

Stakeholder engagement:

  • Maintain the Stakeholder Engagement Tracker, ensuring actions and commitments are up to date
  • Prepare evidence‑based stakeholder briefings
  • Support follow‑up actions and ensure insight is shared effectively across teams

What We’re Looking For

Must haves:

  • Experience in analytical, research, policy or strategy roles (ideally in housing, public policy, sustainability or a regulated environment)
  • Experience delivering actionable insight through trend analysis, case studies and evidence summaries
  • Experience preparing briefings or evidence packs for senior audiences
  • Experience managing trackers and coordinating input across multiple teams
  • Understanding of policy, regulatory, environmental or housing sector issues (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify patterns
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to synthesise quantitative and qualitative evidence into clear insight
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Confident using Excel and data tools
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Curiosity, commitment to continuous learning and a passion for improving outcomes for residents

Nice to haves:

  • Experience supporting ESG or SECR reporting
  • Awareness of ESG frameworks and environmental performance measures
  • Ability to undertake more advanced analysis or data modelling
  • Confidence using data‑visualisation tools such as Power BI
