Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Manager Sustainability and Societal Purpose.

We have an ambitious plan to prioritise financing and investment that builds a thriving, resilient future for society and businesses. Our Sustainability function leads our work in achieving this by driving commercial value through embedding long-term social, environmental, and ethical considerations in business decision-making and strategy.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate and engage with HSBC UK leadership as part of a dedicated and passionate team implementing our Societal Purpose and Sustainability strategies.
  • Direct and navigate our key Societal Purpose partnerships as part of a team, these include external philanthropic partners and internal line of business teams.
  • Support the Head of Societal Purpose and Sustainability to maximise internal and external engagement in all areas of sustainability and societal purpose to enhance our reputation as a leader in the UK.
  • Partner with Strategy Finance, Compliance and Legal teams to effectively manage and execute our partnerships.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Current experience of working within Financial Services, ideally within a Bank.
  • Demonstrable experience within social sustainability and/ or philanthropy.
  • Deep knowledge and experience of retail and commercial business, societal purpose/ social sustainable practices / Sustainability strategy.
  • Experience in partnership management, building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).
  • Experience of contracting and finance (e.g., charitable donations).
  • Demonstrable project management experience within a sustainability context (overseeing all phases of a project, from its initial conception to its final completion).
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the policy, strategy, initiatives and narrative to life (e.g., PowerPoint presentations to a wide range of stakeholders/ senior management).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).

The base location for this role will be Birmingham with a hybrid working pattern.
