Contract Type: Fixed Term – 12 months
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Level: 6, £36,508 – £40,958 fully inclusive of Local Weighting Allowance
This role will be responsible for developing new waste and recycling initiatives and visiting community groups and key stakeholders to deliver educational and promotional campaigns to increase awareness of the need to improve recycling rates and minimise the production of waste.
You will also be responsible for the compilation of waste related data, producing reports for management and assisting in the development and delivery of a range of strategy and policy documents that address waste minimisation and sustainability.

Essential requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentations and report writing.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in sustainable development / environmental science / waste management.
- Good interpersonal skills with experience of working with a range of organisations and individuals, including directly with members of Slough’s diverse communities.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills, with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
- An ability and willingness to work outside of normal working hours, attending evening meeting where required.
- Knowledge of environmental policy and services issues within an urban context and affecting local authorities, relevant legislation and statutory duties.
- A good understanding of communication and engagement tools and techniques and their application to public policy issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and freedom of information principles.
- Willingness to train and develop as part of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
