Uniquely, we recruit-to role – and right now we’re looking for a Graduate Sustainability Design Consultant to join our innovative Building Services division. Given Sweco’s global recognition as a successful Building Services Consultant, and our history of delivering the world’s most sustainable buildings such as the Bloomberg European headquarters and achieving the highest ever BREEAM score, we’d like to hear from graduates that share our ethos and values but are driven to truly transform the world around them.

You’ll support the delivery of building sustainability and environmental design services within the Building Sustainability team, with a particular focus on façade optimisation, overheating risk assessment, dynamic thermal modelling, daylight and sunlight analysis and Building Regulations Part L Compliance. The role is suitable for candidates with education in architectural design.

As a Graduate Sustainability Design Consultant you will:

  • Undertake building environmental design studies in collaboration with the energy team.
  • Engage with internal and external project stakeholders at concept design stage to support sustainability-led design development.
  • Collect, review and organise information required for dynamic thermal modelling and environment comfort assessments.
  • Carry out dynamic modelling studies, including:
    • façade optimisation for energy efficiency
    • overheating risk assessments in line with CIBSE TM52 and TM59
    • daylight and sunlight calculations
  • Support Building Regulations Part L compliance calculations and associated documentation.
  • Support BREEAM Certification credits and evidence collection.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports covering energy, sustainability, and circular economy considerations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to design solutions and internal processes, and share learning through knowledge management channels.
  • Support the preparation of bid proposals and environmental studies for competition and tender work with architects and other design partners.

What do you need to apply?

We want to hear from graduates who:

  • Have a degree relevant to the role you’re applying for (ideally Architecture, Building Physics or Building Services Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Basic to intermediate skills on CAD packages; preferred AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Have the ability to handle data and reporting in clear structure of output.
  • Have less than 12 months of relevant work experience (excluding placements).
  • Are confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Are driven, proactive, and solution-oriented.
  • Can work in the UK without restrictions either now or in the future. This is a permanent role, and we’re looking for candidates who can grow their careers with Sweco without a time limit.
