As part of the Environmental Sustainability function, you will be working closely alongside and shadowing a more experienced Environmental Advisor, supporting with site inspections, data collection, reporting, and environmental auditing.

Whilst under supervision, the role will include working within project teams, engaging, and communicating across functions to ensure that the Laing O’Rourke Environmental Management System requirements are adhered to. You will also assist with ensure all the environmental requirements (legal and contractual) are being met.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities 

  • Assisting the sustainability function
  • Implementation of company Environmental Management System
  • Undertaking and supporting environmental sustainability duties including site inspections and audits
  • Assisting with the preparation of environmental plans and reports
  • Collection and reporting of monthly waste, water and energy data
  • Communicating clearly and confidently to a professional standard
  • Promoting environmental initiatives and driving best practice

As a project-led business, the location of our work can vary depending on project needs. This role may require you to be prepared to work away from home at project sites across the UK.

Entry requirements

We are looking for graduates who meet the following criteria:

  • Studying or have obtained an Environmental Management or a Science related degree
  • Studying a degree course with a clear route to professional accreditation
  • Your degree classification should be 2:2 or higher
  • Entry degrees will be listed within each of our graduate vacancies and differ from role to role
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Flexibility as you may be required to work away
  • Eligible to work in the UK
