Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…
- Managing and maintaining our Environmental Management System (EMS) and associated processes, procedures and standards, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 and environmental legislation.
- Leading and supporting environmental audits across the business to ensure adherence to our management systems, permits and legal requirements.
- Working with the wider E&S team to develop and deliver a regular audit schedule for our contracts.
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting environmental performance data for both internal and client reporting.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients, external auditors and key stakeholders.
- Promoting a positive environmental culture, raising awareness and delivering training to support behavioural change and continuous improvement.
- Supporting the implementation of business-wide environmental and sustainability initiatives, plans and strategies.
- Championing innovation and identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency through new technologies and best practice.
We would love to hear from you if you can demonstrate…
You’re passionate about the environment and sustainability and bring both the knowledge and enthusiasm to make a genuine difference. You’ll have a strong background in environmental management, with around three to five years’ experience in a similar role where you’ve been hands-on in implementing and maintaining environmental management systems. Ideally, you’ll hold a degree in an environmental discipline or have equivalent professional experience, supported by Lead Auditor training.
You’ll have a solid understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements, as well as the ability to interpret data, prepare reports, and provide clear, practical advice on environmental risks and performance. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as this role involves working closely with colleagues at all levels, clients, and other key stakeholders to promote best practice and drive positive environmental outcomes.
You’ll be proactive, solutions-focused, and motivated by the opportunity to make an impact. Flexibility is key, as the role involves travel across the UK to support projects and teams. A full and valid UK driving licence is essential.
Experience within the construction or utilities sector, a master’s degree in a relevant field, or professional membership with a recognised environmental body such as IEMA would all be advantageous.
