Role summary

To be the operational subject matter expert for the sustainability scheme product and related schemes ,continually developing and refining the operational processes that underpin our excellent service delivery. The role will actively support main contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders in understanding and meeting the requirements of the schemes, driving adoption and best practice across the supply chain.

The role will also be responsible for delivering training and ongoing CPD to internal teams to enhance knowledge, capability, and confidence in applying sustainability and compliance principles. Additionally, the role will represent the organisation at industry events and forums across the UK to promote awareness, share insights, and strengthen our position as a trusted authority on sustainability and supply chain compliance.

Knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications

Essential:

  • In-depth understanding of sustainability management, related regulations (Procurement Act, Environment Act, Environmental Protection Act, Climate Change Act), and corporate disclosures, reporting, and rules.
  • Proven experience in developing compliance or assurance frameworks and guidance materials.
  • Auditor qualification with minimum 3 years’ experience, preferably IRCA recognised (Lead Auditor an advantage).
  • Minimum of a level 3 qualification in sustainability and environmental management (or related subject) with demonstratable experience.
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of procurement, compliance and risk management.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of PQQ processes.
  • Strong auditing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in delivering training, seminars, and CPD programmes to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, both internal and external.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to cross-functional projects.
  • A customer-centric approach with strong listening, questioning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail with good administrative and organisational skills; ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on sustainability issues.
  • Ability to organise workload effectively for the purpose of meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and versatility, combined with initiative, drive, and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide variety of contacts.
  • Ability to work autonomously and flexibly, responding to business needs.
  • Presentation skills – qualities necessary for creating and delivering compelling presentations that effectively communicate information and ideas.

Desirable:

  • Degree level qualification in a related subject (business management, environment, finance, risk management, renewables, etc.).
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Experience working in, or knowledge of facilities management.
  • Experience working in, or knowledge of, rail, oil & gas, or energy.
