Overview
This is an office-based role with the flexibility to WFH up to 1 day per week.
Responsible for translating CWG’s environmental commitments into measurable asset‑ and company‑level action, the role leads on estate environmental monitoring including but not limited to waste, nature, air quality, pollution, energy data, operational carbon and net zero reporting. Working with the Director – Environmental Sustainability, it supports transition planning, technical assurance and the management of estate‑wide environmental performance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Understand and interpret the company energy and associated data.
- Work with the CWG Director – Environment to prepare company and asset level transition plans
- A good understanding of operational carbon, NABERS, TM54, and corporate energy
- Knowledge and experience with relevant guidance documents (RICS, NZC building standard)
- Report on and update the companies Science Based Target or alternative net zero pathway at asset and company level
- Work closely with consultants to understand CWG Air Quality, Water Quality, Ecology and wider place based environmental activities including monitoring and preparing feedback
- Support the Director of Environment to manage and monitor estate wide environmental impacts
- Carry out environmental inspections on CWG Operations projects
- Lead sustainable certifications on existing assets
Person Specification:
- An experienced environmental or sustainability professional with strong technical understanding of energy, operational carbon and net zero pathways within a real estate or built‑environment context
- Proven experience working with energy and carbon data, supporting asset‑ and company‑level transition planning, and reporting against Science Based Targets or equivalent frameworks
- Strong knowledge of NABERS, TM54, operational carbon, corporate energy and relevant guidance (e.g. RICS, Net Zero Carbon Building Standard)
- Confident working with consultants and technical reports across climate resilience, air quality, water and ecology, with the ability to provide assurance, insight and practical recommendations
- Analytical, detail‑focused and collaborative, with the credibility to support senior leadership in managing estate‑wide environmental performance
- Collaboration and teamwork, must be able to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, contributing to a positive and cohesive working environment
- Must be IT literate, with confidence in using standard Microsoft Office applications
