Overview

Hours of work: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE) to be worked across 3 or 4 days
Term: Permanent
Location: Flexible – home working (with good wifi) or option to work within a local workspace if required. We have office facilities available in Salisbury, Wiltshire and Retford, Notts. Regular travel will be required across the UK to meet Plantlife colleagues and to attend events

This role plays an important part in helping Plantlife operate sustainably, safely and efficiently. You will take ownership of the day-to-day coordination that keeps our sustainability, facilities and health & safety processes running smoothly. Your work will ensure colleagues have the information, support and practical arrangements they need to do their jobs well.

You will gather and organise sustainability data, keep key records up to date, coordinate routine office and H&S tasks, and act as a friendly, reliable point of contact for colleagues and suppliers. You’ll work closely with the Director of Finance & Resources and be supported by our external Health & Safety consultant for specialist matters.

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys being at the heart of organisational operations — making things work well, solving practical problems, and contributing to a positive, sustainable working environment.

About you

You’ll bring strong organisational skills, a proactive approach, and an interest in sustainability and good workplace practice. You don’t need to be a specialist — just confident coordinating processes, keeping records up to date, and supporting colleagues with practical queries.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and confidence working with colleagues, suppliers and external partners.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear, concise notes or reports.
  • A practical, problem-solving approach and willingness to “get stuck in”.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital collaboration tools.
  • Commitment to sustainability, safe working practices and continuous improvement.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience supporting sustainability, facilities or health & safety processes.
  • Familiarity with carbon reporting or environmental data collection.
  • Experience coordinating small contracts or supplier relationships.
  • Knowledge of basic H&S processes (e.g., risk assessments, incident reporting).
  • Experience working in a charity or not-for-profit environment.
  • Minute-taking experience.
  • Experience of working internationally.
  • Knowledge of a second language.
