Overview
The Welsh Parliament is committed to reducing its environmental impacts and to acting as an exemplar in sustainability. The Senedd has a successful track record in this area and this post will play a key role in ensuring continued effective sustainability performance and improvement to meet our sustainability targets and objectives.
The post is based within the Estates and Facilities Management service and the post holder will report to the Head of FM Services and Sustainability and will also need to work co-operatively and effectively with other members of the team, contractors and stakeholders to ensure achievement of our sustainability objectives and to promote sustainability across the organisation.
The post holder will also be responsible for managing our Carbon Neutral Strategy targets for energy, water, waste and travel and for public reporting via the Sustainability Annual Report.
The post holder must have experience of operating and managing environmental management systems and a successful track record of driving continuous improvement to achieve environmental targets.
This is a full-time post although flexible working arrangements will be considered, subject to meeting the needs of the Senedd and its Members.
Person specification
- Proven experience and successful track record of writing and delivering a corporate sustainability strategy and associated annual reporting and a programme of continuous improvement.
- Proven, successful track record of managing an Environmental Management System (EMS), with the ability to analyse environmental management data.
- Full membership of a relevant professional body such as the Institute for Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) or working towards such a qualification.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant environmental legislation, reporting criteria and relevant policy frameworks.
- Experience of producing high‑quality reports and briefings with clear analysis and evidence‑based recommendations for senior audiences.
The following qualities are not essential for this particular post but have been deemed as desirable. These will only be taken into account in the event of two (or more) candidates acquiring the same score at either application or interview stage.
- Relevant degree in the field of environmental management.
