Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Practitioner to join the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry. This role is ideal for a professional with a passion for delivering sustainable improvements and managing a broad range of risks, ideally in a high-hazard science environment. Qualified to degree level with relevant safety qualifications, you will provide strategic and operational leadership in health, safety, and sustainability. You will oversee the department’s health and safety management system, promote a positive safety culture, and drive sustainability initiatives in line with the University’s strategic vision. Key responsibilities include incident investigations, risk management, auditing, and ensuring compliance with best practices.
The post requires directing and manage incident investigations, identifying lessons learnt and implementing remedial actions as necessary. You will use a variety of techniques to review, monitor and report on health and safety arrangements to drive compliance, best practice, and continual improvement. Previous experience of health and safety auditing would be an advantage
