Join the Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the University of Edinburgh as an undergraduate intern, where you’ll do meaningful work, grow and progress, be rewarded and recognised, and benefit from our strong commitment to your wellbeing. There are so many reasons to join us.
As sustainability in curriculum intern, you will play a key role in supporting the University to articulate where meaningful learning for sustainability is taking place, helping students to make informed decisions about their learning and helping staff to design the curriculum. You will work closely with other interns, colleagues in the School of Biological Science or School of Veterinary Medicine or School of Medicine, and the Climate and Sustainability Curriculum Manager.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. This post will be hybrid working with two days a week on campus, but we are open to accommodating alternate working patterns on request.

Employ.ed on Campus is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with University departments and Schools. It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh. As well as great work experience, the Careers Service provides supporting resources, this is combined with a framework to support the development of participants’ employability and self-reflection with an Edinburgh Award as part of the internship.

About the Team
Launched in 2022, the Edinburgh Earth Initiative was established by the University’s Executive with a cross institutional remit to drive a step change in the University’s engagements with climate and sustainability challenges.
In 2024, a strategic review of Edinburgh Earth Initiative was completed and the results of that review, including a strategy for 2025-2030, were approved by the University Executive. The strategy states that the mission of EEI is to catalyse bold, globally significant transdisciplinary research, innovation and partnerships at the University in support of the Research & Innovation Strategy 2030 and Climate Strategy.
