Overview

As Global Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable travel practices and managing our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy across the business. Your goal will be to minimise the environmental, social, and cultural impacts of our travel operations while maximising positive contributions to the destinations we operate in.

Key responsibilities

ESG:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive responsible travel strategy aligned with Audley’s ESG framework and industry best practices
  • Develop and track ESG targets relevant to the travel industry, aligning them with the Audley’s sustainability strategy
  •  Establish ESG reporting frameworks to monitor progress towards achieving set targets and provide periodic reports to senior management and stakeholders

Certification/ Partnership Management:

  • Develop and manage third party certification assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and measure the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
  • Work with our carbon consultant to provide all carbon data required to calculate Audley’s carbon footprint and look for room for improvement.

Responsible Travel Management:

  • Manage our Responsible Travel policies and implement improvements periodically in collaboration with relevant departments to ensure they meet industry standards
  • Work with the Product team to ensure high standards of responsible and ethical product and benchmark the standards against industry standards.
  • Support the Product team in integrating sustainable requirements for our supply chain to improve year over year.
  • Ensure we meet high standards of sustainability through our marketing material and promotion in line with our ESG marketing guidelines

Carbon footprint Management:

  • Work with the Product team to devise and implement a plan to reduce the carbon footprint of our client trips.
  • Work with all internal functions to improve on our sustainable best practices in office to reduce the companies carbon footprint year over year.

Employee Engagement:

  •  Ensure sustainability is considered for company events and to find creative ways to involve employees while continuing to manage our ESG Forum, charity champions, employee fundraising program and team sustainability channel.
  • Encourage and support employee uptake on volunteering by developing and organizing volunteer opportunities.
  • Provide updated annual ESG training and ongoing monthly training for new hires.

About you

You are an innovative problem-solver, capable of driving sustainable initiatives across various departments and influencing our company culture towards more eco-friendly practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental science,  sustainability, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or related fields, with a proven track record of leadership and impact.
  • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, standards, and reporting guidelines
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with industry certifications and standards such as Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) criteria would be an advantage.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Passion for sustainability and commitment to making a positive impact through responsible travel.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of an organisation
  • Management skill to support intern support as required

This role can be based out of either our Witney office in Oxfordshire or the Shepherd’s Bush office in London and typically a minimum of 3 days per week in the office is required.
