Overview
As a Sustainability Consultant, you will support Sustainability initiatives, ambitions and targets in respect of AZ UK’s own Operations. Reporting into the Head of Sustainability, within the CFO Finance Function, you will support driving Sustainability in AZ UK’s own Operations.
You will support Sustainable Operations topics and proactively implement and support Operations Sustainability initiatives into business processes, governance structures and functions. To achieve the ambitions and targets, you will be required to manage internal and external stakeholders and to collaborate closely with different business functions.
Duties:
- Contribute to developing and delivering Sustainability strategy, ambitions and targets for AZUK’s Business Operations that aligns with the Global strategy, enables business growth.
- Support with delivering and implementing Sustainable Operations initiatives that contribute to the net-zero ambition in partnership with business functions, including Property, Waste, Paper Management, Energy Management, Travel & Mobility incl. EV100, GHG Targets (RE100). Support the Sustainability team & LEO in identifying initiative value and impact.
- Assist the Local Environment Office for Data & Reporting with routine local Sustainability reporting including AZUK Sustainability Report development, SECR drafting, NFSIS drafting and contribute towards ExCo & Internal reporting dashboards.
- Participate in the AZ-UK Sustainability Working Group to drive and measure progress and embed Sustainability into the business and support with preparation of content for the Sustainability Governance Forum.
- Act as a point of contact for Sustainable Operations matters and topics. Monitor and provide insight on future trends, competitor activity and industry developments to maximise Sustainable Operations opportunities.
- Coordinate senior cross-functional teams including with internal stakeholders including function leads, project team participants & managers and subject matter experts across the business. Work with the business functions to deliver and achieve the initiatives and targets.
- Contribute to and support interactions and engagement for AZUK with H4 on Sustainable Operations matters and strategy, including joining relevant best practice and monthly update calls.
- Participate and represent the Sustainability Team in Sustainability Champions network to engage employees and increase employee awareness and engagement in Sustainability issues.
- Act as the key liaison for AZUK with key corporate & charity partners, including developing volunteering opportunities and identifying opportunities for to strengthen and develop the partnership.
- Collaborate with Internal Communications colleagues to build awareness, run campaigns, develop events and drive engagement on sustainability topics.
Essential Skills:
- Experience within Sustainability, operational experience in facilities management, Real Estate, IT or Procurement.
- Demonstrable knowledge of ESG frameworks, standards, and trends.
- Experience in project management and delivery, including tracking initiatives and monitoring progress.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to understand the detail but also how this feeds into the bigger picture.
- Excellent communication, presentations and influencing and relationship management skills, with a high appreciation, and experience of managing stakeholder expectations and motivations.
- Knowledge, passion and expertise across aspects of Sustainability and desire to learn and develop.
- Experience in reporting to and working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to navigate within a complex structure and work closely and collaborate with internal teams.
- A driven, self-starter, with a positive mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Sustainability operations impact measurement & tracking– experience in understanding non-financial business data and monitoring / progress tracking.
- Planning and project / initiative management.
- Creative and Innovative Thinking – Proven track record in change management, transformation and strategy development
- Sustainability Technical Knowledge– especially in Operational topics such as Property, Travel, Energy, Waste etc.
