Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our rapidly expanding national Building Performance team in our Manchester office (would consider Leeds). We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to play a crucial role in defining and delivering the decarbonisation strategies, net zero strategies and sustainability strategies for a diverse range of high-profile projects across the UK built environment. If you are driven to make a real difference in the transition to Net Zero and are passionate about mentoring the next generation of sustainability leaders, this role is for you.

Reporting to the National Leads, this role is twofold: combining high-level client engagement with internal team leadership.

You will be key in developing and growing our technical and service offerings across multiple sectors.

Key Activities:

  • Act as the Project Engineer and technical lead, taking full ownership of project delivery and resourcing requirements.
  • Lead workshops with clients and design teams, effectively communicating complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Mentor and develop junior colleagues, ensuring their rapid upskilling and career acceleration within a dynamic environment.
  • Delegate, manage, and review technical work undertaken by the wider team, ensuring quality assurance.
  • Conduct advanced modelling and analysis, including embodied carbon assessments, building performance simulation, and energy generation feasibility studies.
  • Support the leadership team in business development activities, including the production of high-quality fee proposals and successful tender submissions.

Successful Candidate Profile:

You are a proactive team player with strong verbal and written communication skills who thrives in a collaborative, national consultancy environment. You possess:

  • Proven experience in the sustainability industry within the built environment.
  • A passion for mentoring and a track record of effectively managing people or a small team.
  • The ability to present and communicate complex ideas effectively to clients, architects, and project managers.
  • A genuine drive to continuously develop your career and make a tangible difference in the built sector.

The ideal candidate will possess deep, proven expertise and strong experience in any of the following simulation tools and technical deliverables, enabling you to effectively coach and support junior team members:

  • TM54 (Operational Energy Modelling) and In-Use Energy Assessment.
  • TM59 / Part O (Overheating Risk Assessment).
  • Part L Compliance Modelling and Energy Strategies.
  • Passivhaus principles and design verification.
  • Developing Decarbonisation Roadmaps and Net Zero Carbon Strategies.
  • Whole Life Carbon (WLC) Assessment and Circular Economy analysis.
