Overview

The role sits within the EURO 2028 Legacy & Impact Team, which is responsible for overseeing the Government’s input into the tournament’s Community Programme (encompassing social impact and sustainability). UEFA EURO 2028 UK & Ireland will see the largest-ever Community Programme for the tournament and will harness the power of sport and culture, bring communities together and inspire positive change.

The postholder will:

  • Provide policy support on legacy and sustainability for EURO 2028, liaising with stakeholders internally and externally to deliver the UK Government’s responsibilities and ensure that is factored into a robust and ambitious multi-partner, tournament-wide Community Programme.
  • Support the coordination of UKG input into the design of a comprehensive cross-partner sustainability charter, ensuring key stakeholders across government are consulted throughout the development process.
  • Provide administrative support to the England National Legacy Steering Group.
  • Lead day-to-day team support & project management.
  • Lead coordination of ad hoc cross-cutting commissions, briefings and correspondence.

Person specification

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experience.

Essential requirements:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build influential relationships that drive delivery and achieve outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to confidently deliver messages to different levels of seniority
  • Ability to deliver at pace, against competing priorities.
  • Ability to think strategically, and understand how work contributes to the bigger picture.
  • Ability to think logically through policy and project problems.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience and/or interest in major events (including their legacy and sustainability), or the sports sector.
  • Experience of working in a programme or project environment and driving forward a high profile project at pace.
