Overview
The Environmental Sustainability Manager will work with the Head of Sustainability in developing and implementing a robust environmental strategy for Orbit. The role will lead on the ongoing development and implementation of Orbit’s environmental management system and maintenance of ISO14001 certification.
The role will continue the development of our Orbit Earth programme as the Chair of the working group, with a focus on stakeholder engagement, Zero Waste and Biodiversity, whilst maintaining and improving our environmental reporting functions and supporting the operation of our Environmental Management System and Net Zero Carbon strategy.
In this role you can expect your week to be split evenly between travelling to sites, working from the office and working from home. As a benefit, this role comes with a car allowance. This role is part of Regulatory & Governance where you’ll help us give colleagues the support and expertise they need to be brilliant.

Day to day responsibilities include:
- Lead in the ongoing development and implementation of our Biodiversity and Zero Waste commitments.
- Lead on improving the collection, monitoring and ongoing maintenance of high quality environmental data.
- Motivate and manage team members to achieve team and personal targets and objectives, also supporting their personal and professional development.
- Lead in the ongoing development, implementation, oversight and reporting of the Environmental Management System and advisory service.
- Perform site visits and awareness sessions (in-person and remotely) as required by the business.
- Represent Orbit at sector and industry events, forums and groups including speaking opportunities to influence external stakeholders, enhance Orbit’s reputation and share best practice.
What you’ll bring
Essential skills:
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships that support Orbit’s environmental work.
- Ability to travel and work independently from home or another remote setting (access to own vehicle).
- Comfortable analysing data and presenting findings to different audiences.
- Experience with environmental management systems certified to ISO14001: 2015.
- Experience managing team members to unlock their full potential.
Desirable skills:
- Experience in construction, property management or a similar sector.
- Experience delivering leading strategies on topics such as Zero Waste and Biodiversity.
