Overview

Roles and Responsibilities

Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Identify and evaluate sustainability risks, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors;
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks;
  • Monitor and report on sustainability risk exposure and performance.

Policy Development:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into corporate policies and procedures;
  • Ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives;
  • Communicate sustainability risks and opportunities to senior management and the board.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability regulations and standards;
  • Prepare and oversee sustainability risk reports and disclosures.

Training and Awareness:

  • Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness of sustainability risks and best practices;
  • Foster a culture of sustainability within the organisation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sustainability, risk management, or a related field;
  • Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies;
  • Proven experience in working within ESG at senior level within financial services or insurance;
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, including environmental regulations, sustainable business practices and corporate social responsibility;
  • Demonstrated accountability in developing and implementing sustainability strategies that drive business performance while achieving environment and social objectives.
  • Critical thinking skills to solve problems and enact creative thinking to provide solutions;
  • Ability to identify areas of inefficiency or areas of opportunity for maximising sustainability throughout the organisation;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments;
  • Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools and software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Risk Management, or a related field;
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. CSR-P, GARP) is desirable.
