Overview

As a Sustainability & ESG Assistant, you will be getting involved with projects focusing on all environmental, social and governance aspects across the business.

Reporting into our ESG Manager your key focus will be completing all aspects of ESG and carbon scope reporting. Focusing on continuous improvement, reviewing, and building on reporting processes to ensure that they deliver relevant sustainability information. Support with third-party accreditation and coordinate and complete accurate preparation of corporate ESG, shareholder and customer reporting requirements, meeting deadlines in a timely manner.

 

Duties include:

Environmental

  • Keeping up to date with trends on SMI’s ESG initiatives including tree planting, customer plastic consumption, eco products ordered and recycling scheme.
  • Support with annual carbon footprint data collection
  • Collect data for own van delivery van emissions

 

Social

  • Raise awareness for SMI’s volunteering initiatives
  • Develop new ways to increase and promote social impact
  • Work with HR to ensure diversity, equality, and social statistics are up to date and accurate
  • Promote SMI’s ESG Champion scheme

 

Governance

  • Support ESG Manager with policies and procedures
  • Support with ensuring SMI is up to date with laws and regulations
  • Support with continued supply chain mapping

 

What do I need?

To become a Sustainability & ESG Assistant at SMI, you will need:

  • A strong passion for sustainability and social value with a keen desire to have a positive impact and make a difference
  • Analytical thinking, enjoy problem thinking
  • Confidence in building stakeholder relations
  • Excellent communication and time management
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office
  • A degree in business management with sustainability or similar is desirable but not mandatory
