Overview
Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Sustainability and Compliance Coordinator. The Sustainability and Compliance Coordinator will take overall responsibility for the implementation of ethically strategy and take overall responsibility for the supplier technical compliance management, working with the technical compliance team to deliver assigned business projects and objectives
The Role:
- Ensure knowledge of customer and regulatory requirements for responsible sourcing (food safety, ethical, environmental and auditing) is in line with our clients customer policies, and conveyed to suppliers pre-season
- In conjunction with the Head of Technical and Ethical Sourcing, support the implementation of the companies Operating Ethically Plan.
- Contribute to the development of SBTi reporting approach and Net Zero strategy by coordinating GHG emissions reporting from suppliers across manufacturing and primary production
- Accurately review GHG emissions data, complete GHG emissions calculations and maintain a master data inventory.
- Collate and analyse supplier environmental impact data and improvement plans related to Food Waste, GHG emissions, Water Risk/Footprinting and Sustainable Farming (LEAF and SIZA) certification.
- Support suppliers to ensure accurate reporting in line with agreed frameworks and complete all relevant administration as required.
- Manage food waste data trending, reporting and continually reviewing the company-wide Food Surplus and Waste Prevention hierarchy to identify and investigate opportunities that will eliminate food waste in our client’s operations.
- Manage the publication of the annual WRAP UK Food Waste Reduction Roadmap report, produce case studies as required and share relevant trends and insights with the wider business.
- Ensure industry ESG knowledge and insight is always commercially relevant, using a range of credible sources (including, but not exclusive to; key customer sustainability strategies, WRAP, WWF, UNSDG, The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, SBTI, IPCC, CCC and literature publications).
- Support the compliance team to prioritise and close gaps on the relevant due diligence (DD) systems, to maintain compliance in line with agreed KPI targets.
- Proactively manage and maintain suppliers technical due diligence (DD) and risk assessments.
- Regularly update and share the category Approved Supplier Lists.
- Accurately maintain new and current supplier codes linking within Prophet Sendac table, internal and third party external systems. Complete the approval process within internal and external portals for any new suppliers.
- Follow up on any actions, investigate any incidences of non-compliance and near misses, and perform recall and traceability exercises
- Support the delivery of annual supplier reviews
- Be an active part of the PCL (Product Category Lead)
The Person:
- Relevant Degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Agronomy or Environmental Science and Sustainability
- Experience in technical/sustainability roles within the UK fresh produce industry
- Knowledge of Environmental Management Standard
- Understanding of food safety and quality systems
- Good computer knowledge especially MS Office package
- Power BI compliance & sustainability reporting
- Effective time management with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
