InfraRed is part of SLC Management, the institutional alternatives and traditional asset management business of Sun Life. InfraRed represents the infrastructure equity arm of SLC Management, which also incorporates BGO, a global real estate investment management adviser, and Crescent Capital, a global alternative credit investment asset manager.

Job Purpose 

The Sustainability Analyst will report to InfraRed’s Head of Sustainability, who is responsible for the development and implementation of the sustainability strategy for InfraRed and its funds under management. You will support the Sustainability Team to deliver the sustainability programme to maintain InfraRed in a “best-in-class” position in respect to sustainable investment and corporate practices.

 

The Sustainability Analyst will play a pivotal role in steering our company towards a greener future, focusing primarily on the technical aspects of sustainability such as delivering decarbonization initiatives within InfraRed’s existing investment portfolio and working with InfraRed’s investment team to conduct ESG due diligence on new investments opportunities.

 

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about driving sustainability outcomes within a large infrastructure portfolio.

Key Job Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Be a key member of the sustainability team responsible for developing and implementing InfraRed’s sustainability strategy
  • Contribute to making InfraRed’s approach to sustainability to be best-in-class by conducting competitor and market research on emerging sustainability trends and requirements and proactively suggesting ways to improve InfraRed’s sustainability approach

Implementation

  • Support the Investment team to conduce the ESG due diligence on new investment opportunities and ensure the investment opportunity aligns with InfraRed’s sustainability requirements
  • Support the Head of Sustainability to deliver the key workstreams of the sustainability programme such as net zero, climate change, biodiversity and social impact.
  • In conjunction with the Asset Management team, engage with portfolio companies to support them to deliver their ESG priorities and align with InfraRed’s sustainability requirements. For example, his would include, working with portfolio companies to implement decarbonisation plans.

Communications

  • Act as a strong and credible subject matter expert on sustainability
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (investors, clients, and project management companies) to support the delivery of the sustainability requirements
  • Develop routine and ad-hoc communication materials (written, presentations, videos, website content, thought-leadership pieces) to cater for internal and external audiences
  • Present to internal and external stakeholders on sustainability matters. This could include periodic training of staff, providing an overview of InfraRed’s sustainability approach to investors or an update on key sustainability themes

Reporting

  • Manage the sustainability data collection processes across InfraRed’s portfolio companies, working with InfraRed internal digitalisation team
  • Analyse sustainability data to identify areas for improvement and present findings to internal and external stakeholders to improve sustainability outcomes
  • Support efforts to ensure that InfraRed and its funds under management comply with necessary regulatory or statutory requirements related to sustainability
  • Lead the project management of InfraRed’s annual and fund sustainability reports
  • Support the Investor Relations team to respond to routine and ad-hoc investor queries related to sustainability

Corporate Initiatives 

  • Review and update sustainability requirements in the investment, asset management and reporting processes to ensure continuous improvement and maintain best practices across the business
  • Review and update InfraRed’s sustainability-related corporate policies
  • Project manage the preparation of InfraRed’s sustainability accreditations submissions such as the Principles for Responsible Investment (“PRI”)
  • Manage InfraRed’s the corporate carbon emissions and offsetting activities

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous work experience within the ESG/sustainability, infrastructure, investment sector is highly beneficial
  • A collaborative, diligent, and self-motivated individual who can deliver high-quality work in a well thought-out and structured way
  • Strong inter-personal and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong written and visual communications skills which demonstrates creativity and very high attention to detail
  • Mature, confident presentation style
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyse large data sets of information to identify trends, errors or make recommendations and present the data analysis in a concise way to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, whilst managing your own time and prioritising competing tasks
  • Commercially aware and professional with the ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in terms of investment and corporate affairs and documents
