The ESG Reporting team’s mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted ESG reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholders’ expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.
The ESG Risk team is looking for a Senior Climate Risk Manager to support the rapidly expanding Climate Risk Assessment program.
This role will support the team’s mission to develop scalable mechanisms across Amazon to help identify and assess climate risks aligned with regulatory ESG reporting requirements.
Key job responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of physical and transition climate risk assessment methodology and models
- Collaborate with business units and corporate functions to identify and assess climate impacts, risks and opportunities across Amazon globally
- Identify and pursue opportunities to streamline existing and future climate resilience efforts across the business globally to feed into and inform the climate risk assessment program
- Provide input into upcoming voluntary and mandatory climate risk management programs, reporting frameworks and public disclosures; and identify and implement improvements to Amazon’s climate risk management programs
- Work with World Wide Sustainability (WWS) subject matter experts to understand and align to existing and upcoming climate and ESG regulations such as the EU CSRD’s double materiality principle, the US SEC’s climate rule, and the EU’s CSDDD objective.
Qualifications
Basic:
- Significant work experience in climate/ESG; including in a corporate setting or consulting environment
- Extensive experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior management
- Subject matter expertise in identifying, assessing and managing physical and transition climate risks and opportunities
- Experience working with multiple internal stakeholders, including advising and influencing cross-functional teams
- Understanding of, and familiarity with, the emerging climate and ESG regulatory environment (TCFD, CSRD/ESRS, US SEC climate rule, EU Taxonomy, ISSB)
Preferred:
- Experience with completing and reporting on climate risk assessments in line with the double materiality principle within the EU CSRD/ESRS or other ESG reporting requirements (mandatory or voluntary)
- Experience with developing in-house methodology, models and/or tools to assess climate risks
- Experience with sustainability/climate risk assurance either as a program owner or as an assurance provider
- Familiarity with current trends in corporate climate risk assessment methodology/reporting globally
- Ability to deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in an agile environment
